The Missionary Tilma: Our Lady of Guadalupe
November 23rd & November 24th
Join us at St. Vincent de Paul Church on November 23rd and 24th for a special opportunity to venerate the Missionary Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe. This remarkable image, authorized by the Catholic Church, is a faithful digital reproduction of the original tilma dating back to 1531, displayed above the main altar at the Basilica Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City.
What is the Missionary Image?
The Missionary Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe is an authorized, Catholic Church-recognized digital replica of the original tilma displayed at the Basilica Shrine in Mexico City. While many photos of the original exist, this 4-by-6-foot image is one of only four certified Missionary Images made under the Church’s guidance from a high-resolution digital capture in 1999. Miraculous phenomena, like reports of a heartbeat near the Virgin’s depiction of the Christ Child and oil appearing on the Image, have been associated with this sacred replica.
