Confirmation is a Sacrament of Initiation that deepens your faith life and allows you to see how the Holy Spirit is working in your life. It enlivens and deepens the gifts of the Holy Spirit which we received at our Baptism. Confirmation Preparation for high school students is a two year process. Candidates must fill our a registration form each year they are a part of the program. Sessions run each year from September to May. Confirmation Mass is held in the spring of the candidates second year of preparation. Sessions are held on the first, third, and fifth Wednesdays of the month from 6:00-8:00pm in the rooms of the Church. Please see the Confirmation Calendar for specific dates. Second Year of Confirmation
The only way to enter the 2nd year of confirmation preparation is to have AT LEAST 1 year of faithful and genuine attendance to our Life Teen Youth Ministry. Only after students have applied, have had a discernment interview, and show readiness to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, will they enter their second year of preparation.
Confirmation’s 2nd year of preparation is supplemental to the Youth Ministry program. Teens are still encouraged to attend Youth Ministry events. They will also have Confirmation Sessions with other teens who will be confirmed the same year in order to DEEPEN their faith and prepare them to receive Confirmation. We also prepare teens for life after Confirmation, and we expect teens to be serving our parish and practicing the Catholic faith throughout this process. This includes attending Sunday Liturgies (Held starting with Saturday 5pm Mass-Sunday 5PM Mass) learning and praying the traditional Catholic prayers such as the Our Father and Hail Mary in English or Spanish, as well as being able to testify to their faith in a personal way.
This is only a glimpse of the rich, faithful life each teen has the potential to live when they willingly and faithfully be a part of our parish community.
If any questions feel free to Contact Raphael Garcia (RG) in the Parish Office or by email: Youth@svdphb.org
